- What happens to my existing Metro-UOB Gold Card when I choose to accept the upgrade?
Your existing Metro-UOB Gold Card will be automatically cancelled upon receipt of your new Metro-UOB Platinum Card upgrade on 30 September 2010. We will send to you and your Supplementary Cardmember(s)*, the new Metro-UOB Platinum Card within two working weeks upon receipt of your Upgrade Acceptance Reply Slip - subject to Bank’s Approval. In the meantime, you may continue to use your current Metro-UOB Gold Card. With this exclusive upgrade offer, the annual fee will be revised to $180. This annual fee will apply to your Metro-UOB Platinum Card from thethird year onwards.*
*With the upgrade offer, you will enjoy a two-year annual fee waiver for your new Metro-UOB Platinum Card.

i) What will be transferred?
When your card is upgraded, the following will automatically be transferred onto your choice of new Metro-UOB Platinum Card:

If you have existing standing instructions arranged for recurring payments such as insurance or telecommunications bill payments, other than UOI - FIPP & UOB Life Assurance on your Metro-UOB Gold Card, you will need to inform your bank/service providers of the change in account number upon receipt of your new Metro-UOB Platinum Card.
- What happens to my SMART $ and Metro$ earned?
As your SMART$ and Metro$ will be transferred but you are encouraged to utilise them within month after your new Card has been issued.
- Do I need to submit income documents if I decide to upgrade?
No, you do not have to submit your income documents if you accept this invitation to upgrade, otherwise you will have to resubmit your income and supporting documents for future credit card applications. However, if you have changed jobs or wish to have your credit limit reviewed; please attach your updated income documents with your Upgrade Acceptance Reply Slip.
- What happens to my Metro-UOB Gold Card if I choose not to accept the upgrade?
UOB has stopped issuing the Metro-UOB Gold Card. All existing Metro-UOB Gold cards that do not accept this upgrade will be terminated on 30 September 2010. You can continue to use your card till then. Please utilised any balanced Metro$, UNI$ and SMART$ from your account before the termination date as they will be erased from the system. You will continue to receive a statement for your existing Metro-UOB Gold Card until all the outstanding balances have been settled. All GIRO and recurring payments will remain active until all outstanding balances are cleared. Any ongoing installment payment plan will be terminated and a full payment or final settlement on the Installment Purchase Price or the balance amount must be made by the due date reflected in the statement.

HOW DO I APPLY?
How do I apply?
- Accumulate S$300 nett worth of original Metro receipts§ within three consecutive months. Present these receipts at any Metro Customer Service Counter, register and you will receive your Metro Card instantly!
- To apply for the Spouse Card, a S$10 application fee applies.
- All Metro Cards are valid for two years from the date of issue. A Spouse Card expires at the same time as the corresponding Metro Card held by the Metro Cardmember.
- To renew the Metro Card, simply accumulate a spending of S$1,000 at Metro and you Card membership will be automatically renewed. The new Card will then be mailed to you.
- To renew the Spouse Card, a S$10 renewal fee applies.
- Receipts from purchases made by Metro Card, Metro Privilege/Gift Card, Metro-UOB Gold Card and receipts from purchase of Metro Gift Vouchers, Metro Gift Card and Metro Shoppers’ Cheque shall not be valid for the application of a Metro Card.

- Metro shall not be liable in any way:
- For any malfunction, defect or error in any terminal or other data processing equipment, software or system used to process Metro Card transactions whether belonging to or operated by Metro or other persons;
- For any delay or failure in processing Metro Card transactions because of any electronic, mechanical system, data processing or telecommunication defect or failure, act of God, civil disturbance or any event outside Metro’s control or the control of any of Metro’s servants, agents or contractors;
- For any damage to or loss of or inability to retrieve any data or information that may be stored in the Metro Card or any microchip or circuit or device in the Metro Card or corruption of any such data or information, howsoever caused; and/or
- For any fraud and/or forgery in relation to the Metro Card perpetrated on Metro or any of Metro’s servants, agents or contractors.
- Metro reserves the tight to change the terms and conditions governing the use of the Metro Card from time to time at its sole discretion. Metro may provide notification of such changes at Metro’s website www.metro.com.sg or at Metro stores or by other means of communication as Metro may deem fit and shall be effective as of the date specified by Metro in such notification.

- Does my membership need to be activated?
Yes. To activate both your membership and your card, a member of our Customer Service personnel will scratch the Activation Code on the reverse of the card and key in your activation code in our system.
- Can I apply for a spouse or supplementary card?
No. The Metro Privilege/Gift Card does not issue spouse or supplementary cards.
- Can I withdraw any unutilised funds from the Metro Privilege/Gift Card?
No, unutilised funds in a Metro Privilege/Gift Card may not be encashed or refunded.
- How can I check the available funds in my Metro Privilege/Gift Card?
To check the available balance on your Metro Privilege/Gift Card, refer to any receipt from a recent transaction. (Every purchase transaction is accompanied by a receipt.) The receipt will display the card balance amount, the amount utilised, and the expiry date of the card account.
- If I lose my receipts, how can I check the available funds in my Metro Privilege/Gift Card?
To check your fund balance, just visit any Cashier or Customer Service counter at your nearest Metro Store and present your Metro Privilege/Gift Card. This service is free of charge.
- What should I do if I lose my Metro Privilege/Gift Card?
If your Metro Privilege/Gift Card is lost or stolen, you should notify Metro in person at any Metro store. Metro will attempt to suspend the use of the lost or stolen card.
- What will happen to my money in the lost card?
Metro may, at the request of the cardmember, transfer the unutilised funds in the lost or
stolen Metro Privilege/Gift Card to a replacement card. Under no circumstances will Metro be liable for any unauthorised use of a lost or stolen Metro Privilege/Gift Card. Any request for the transfer of unutilised funds in the Metro Privilege/Gift Card must be made in person by the cardmember at any Customer Service counter of any Metro store.
- Is there any fee imposed for replacement cards?
Yes. An administrative fee of $10 will be imposed for the replacement of a lost card and a further $2 will be charged for the cost of a new replacement card.
- What happens if the Metro Privilege/Gift Card is faulty or damaged?
If a Metro Privilege/Gift Card is faulty due to a manufacturer’s defect, it will be replaced free of charge and the unutilised funds in the faulty or damaged Metro Privilege/Gift Card will be transferred to the replacement card. If the Metro Privilege/Gift Card is defective or damaged as a result of mishandling – such as cracked, scratched or defaced – no replacement card will be provided free of charge by Metro.
- What will happen to the unutilised funds in the damaged card?
Any unutilised funds in a defective or damaged card may be transferred to a replacement card with no stored value, at a cost of $2 per card.
- What are the criteria for the renewal of the Metro Privilege/Gift Card?
An renewal letter will be sent to members, those who have accumulated a total expenditure of $750 and above at Metro within the 2 years membership may proceed to any Metro stores for a renewed card. This amount includes the initial loaded funds of $380.
- What should I do if I did not meet the renewal criteria but still have some unutilised funds in my card?
You can sign up as a member again by loading a new Metro Privilege/Gift Card with $380 and therefore enjoy another 2 years of membership privilege. Upon activating your new membership, you can transfer all remaining funds from your old card to your new card.
OR
Purchase a Metro Gift Card at $10 and transfer all unutilised funds from the expired Metro Privilege/Gift Card to a new Metro Gift Card.
HOW DO I APPLY?
How do I apply?
- Metro Privilege/Gift Card has no joining fee and requires no accumulated receipts to qualify.
- Just load it with minimum S$380 worth of funds, and the money is available for immediate spending at all Metro stores islandwide.
- All mode of payment are acceptable for the purchase of Metro Privilege/Gift card, except Metro Shoppers Cheque.
- Top-up of cash value during the card’s validity period is applicable, with a minimum of S$10 and up to a maximum of S$2,000.
- Metro Privilege/Gift Card is valid for 2 years.
- Metro Privilege/Gift Card can be renewed free of charge so long as the Cardmember has made purchases totalling a minimum of S$750 and above using this card over the past 2 years.
- All unused funds can be transferred to a new card on or before the expiry of the card, not later than 1 month after the card expires.

- Faulty cards due to manufacturer defect will be replaced free.
- Replacement for lost and damaged card as a result of misuse, cracked, scratched or deface, Cardmember need only bear cost of a new Metro Privilege/Gift Card at S$2 per card and transfer the unused fund to a new card.
- Replacement cards shall bear the same expiry date as damaged/lost card.
- An administrative fee of S$10 will be levied for a replacement of a lost card.
- Replacement of a lost card and transfer of funds to a new card must be done in person at the customer service counter – for authentication purposes.
